For the past three years, my under graduate education has exposed me to the various sub-fields of Computer Science (CS). I took courses in Computer Programming, Principles of Communication Engineering, Database Management Systems, Data Communications, Object Oriented Programming Methodology, Microprocessors and Operating Systems. Also, as an active member of the IEEE, Computer Society, I have had excellent exposure to current work in subjects like Parallel Processing, Computer Networking, Databases, Advanced Operating System, Programming Methodology, Software Engineering and Image Processing.

I have been overawed by the rapid developments in the field of Computers. The wonders of the Internet and the exciting world opened by cyberspace technology amaze me. It is indeed thrilling to be a part of a world where the robotic arms of surgeons in America can operate on a patient in Saudi Arabia, or a businessman in a remote bullock cart village of India can trade with modern firms of Europe. This world where merit and skills have no limits appeals to me. All this has metamorphosed into my intense interest in Computer Networking and Distributed Systems. I have a burning desire to learn the complex arrangement of computers, managing and sharing data in both local area and wide area computing environments and development of a common platform for providing intelligent access to multiple information sources. As I have become aware of these intricacies and challenges and since my undergraduate syllabus has barely provided a glimpse of newer technologies, I realize that to do full justice to my work in this field, it is but natural for me to undertake graduate course in the same.

It is the focus on a more practical action oriented approach to education that attracts me to pursue higher studies in the USA. After earning an M.S. degree, I plan to earn a PhD degree and then become a contributing member of the research fraternity of the world. This will be the fulfillment of my long cherished dream.

I want to acquire the skills to translate theory to actual implementation with the confidence to work according to the highest international standards.

I know I have the qualities of diligence, logical thinking, accurate experimentation, flexibility of thought and analytical mind that will help me to excel in my academic work. I look forward to fulfill my dreams in the years to come.

This Portuguese proverb is the motto of my life - "Live to learn and you will learn to live".
